Adding Attributes to Accounts and Contacts

Modified on Mon, 1 Jun at 5:48 PM

Attributes are labels you can assign to an Account, a Contact, or a Driver to tag and categorize records. This guide explains how to manage attribute assignments and, where applicable, define active date ranges.

Where to find the Attributes page

ElementNavigation path
AccountBack-office → Accounts → open an account → Attributes tab
Contact (back-office)Back-office → Accounts → open an account → Address Book → open a contact → Attributes section
Contact (self-serve)Self-Serve → Contacts → open a contact → Attributes section
DriverBack-office → Drivers → open a driver → Attributes tab

The two columns

The page is divided into two side-by-side lists:

  • Available Attributes (left) — attributes that exist in the system but are not yet assigned to this record.
  • Selected Attributes (right) — attributes currently assigned to this record.

Both lists are sorted alphabetically and paginated. If a name is too long to display, it is truncated with "…" — hover over it to read the full name.

What appears in the Available list
Three conditions must all be true for an attribute to show up on the left.

An attribute appears in the Available list only when all of the following are true:

  1. It has been configured to apply to this element type (Account, Contact, or Driver) by an administrator. If an attribute doesn't appear and you believe it should, check with your administrator.
  2. It is not already assigned to this record.
  3. It is not archived.
⚠️
Archived attributes cannot be newly assigned. If an archived attribute was already assigned before it was archived, it remains visible in the Selected list with an Archived badge — but once removed, it cannot be re-added.

Searching

Use the Search attributes bar at the top to filter both columns at the same time. Type any part of an attribute name — results update as you type. Clear the field to restore the full lists.

Adding an attribute

Add a single attribute
Instantly move one attribute from Available to Selected.
  1. Locate the attribute in the Available list (use the search bar if needed).
  2. Click Add (+) on its row. The attribute moves to the Selected list immediately.
Add several attributes at once
Use checkboxes to select multiple attributes before confirming.
  1. Tick the checkbox on each attribute you want in the Available list.
  2. Click Add X attributes at the top of the left column.

ℹ️
While checkboxes are ticked, the individual Add (+) buttons are disabled. Click to uncheck all boxes to restore the individual buttons.

Removing an attribute

Remove a single attribute
Delete one attribute from the Selected list with a single click.
  1. In the Selected list, find the attribute to remove.
  2. Click the delete icon (?) on its row. No confirmation is asked.
⚠️
If the removed attribute is archived, it disappears from both lists entirely and cannot be re-added. Contact your administrator to re-assign it.
Remove several attributes at once
Use checkboxes to remove multiple attributes in one action.
  1. Tick the checkbox on each attribute you want to remove in the Selected list.
  2. Click Remove X attributes at the top of the right column.
ℹ️
While checkboxes are ticked, the individual Remove buttons are disabled. Click to uncheck all boxes to restore the individual buttons.

Start and end dates (Accounts & Contacts only)

Each selected attribute on an Account or Contact can have an optional Start Date and/or End Date to define the period during which it is considered active. This feature is not available for Drivers.

FieldMeaning
Start DateThe attribute is active from this date onward.
End DateThe attribute stops being active after this date.
  • Both fields are optional — leave one or both blank if no date limit is needed.
  • If both are filled in, the Start Date must be earlier than the End Date.
⚠️
Rows with an invalid date range are highlighted in red and will block saving until corrected

Saving your changes

Changes are not saved automatically. When you are done, click the Save button for your context:

  • Account Attributes pageSave button on that page.
  • Contact edit form → the main Save button of the form.
  • Driver Attributes pageSave button on that page.
⚠️
Leaving the page without saving discards all pending changes.
