To use Zones in a Price List, a Zone Layout must first be created then the Zones must be added to that Zone Layout.

Any changes to a Zone Layout after it has been used in a Price List will require a manual Price List update to add or remove or rename the Zones otherwise the Price List will not price correctly.

Zone Layout

The Zone Layout is found under Pricing Zones in the Pricing menu.

Add a Zone Layout

1) Open Pricing then Pricing Zones then Zone Layouts.

2) Click on New Zone Layout.

3) Enter a name for the Layout (special characters and spaces are allowed) then select a type:

• Map Based: will use a KML files with Polygons - for more information please see https://support.dispatchscience.com/support/solutions/articles/36000406958-create-and-import-a-kml-file-for-a-zone-area
• Zip Based: will use a list of Zone names and ZIPs or Postal Codes. This can be imported with an Excel file. See example file at the bottom of the article.

4) Click Save.

Once a Zone Layout is saved, the type cannot be modified.

Edit a Zone Layout

1) Open Pricing then Pricing Zones then Zone Layouts.

2) Click on a Zone Layout to edit.

3) Modify the name and click Save.

Delete an unused Zone Layout

1) Open Pricing then Pricing Zones then Zone Layouts.

2) Click on the Zone Layout to delete.

3) Click on Delete.

4) Confirm deletion.

5) An message will be displayed to indicate that the Zone Layout was deleted or was not able to be deleted if it was used in Price Lists.

Zones

The Zones are found under the Pricing menu under Pricing Zones. 

Once the Zone Layout is created, zones can be added to the layouts. 

Add Zones to a Map Zone Layout 

1) Open Pricing then Pricing Zones then Zones.

2) Select a Zone Layout of type Map from the Zone Layout drop-down field:

3) Click on Choose File then navigate to the folder where the KML file is saved, select the file and click on Open.

4) Click on Import KML File.

The file will import and the zones will be displayed:

Edit Zones in a Map Zone Layout 

1) Open Pricing then Pricing Zones then Zones.

2) Select a Zone Layout of type Map from the Zone Layout drop-down field:

3) To add or remove zones from an existing Zone Layout, click on Download File button to download the KML file.

4) Make changes to the KML file by importing the KML file to Google Map for example.

6) Click on Choose File then navigate to the folder where the KML file is saved, select the file and click on Open.

4) Click on Import KML File.

5) Click OK in the Confirmation message:

Add Zones to a ZIP Zone Layout 

1) Open Pricing then Pricing Zones then Zones.

2) Select a Zone Layout of type ZIP from the Zone Layout drop-down field:

3) Zones can be imported through a spreadsheet using the Import Zone or Zones can be added with the Add Zone button. 

Import Zones:

• Using a blank spreadsheet, add in column A the names of the Zones (zone names can only contain letters, number and underscore _  and no special characters or spaces).
• Starting in column B, enter one zip per cell for the Zone
  
• Save the file.
• In the Zone Layout under Zones, click on Import Zones button.
  
• Click on Choose File:
  
• Navigate to the file, select it and click Open.
• Click on Import:
  
• Page will refresh showing the zones:
  

Add Zones:

• Click on Add Zone button:
  
• Enter the Zone ID or name (only letters, numbers and underscores can be used)
  Enter the ZIPs separated by a semi-colon (;)
  
• Once the Zone information is filled in, click on Save and the Zone will be added.
  

ZIPs cannot be entered in two different Zones. If a ZIP that is already assigned to a Zone is added in a new Zone, it will be removed from the first Zone. 
You can enter partial ZIPs. When using partial ZIPs with complete ZIPs, the complete ZIPs will be used first to find the Zone. If a complete ZIP is not found the partial ZIP with the most characters will be used, etcc.

Edit Zones in a ZIP Zone Layout 

1) Open Pricing then Pricing Zones then Zones.

2) Click on a Zone Layout of type ZIP to edit it:

3) You can edit an existing zone by clicking on the Zone ID then make the changes to the Zone ID and/or the ZIP Codes and click Save.

If you change the Zone ID and the Zone Layout is associated to a price list, the price list will no be valid. You will need to change the Zone ID in the price list as well.
If a ZIP is added in a new Zone that was already in a different Zone, it will be removed from the Zone and added to the new Zone.

Using the Import Zones button, you can import a file with new Zones.
Zones that do not currently exist in the Zone Layout will be added. Any Zone IDs that exist already will be overwritten. 

Any Zones that currently exist in the Zone Layout but are not in the file will not be modified.

Delete a Zone in a ZIP Zone Layout

1) Open Pricing then Pricing Zones then Zones.

2) Click on a Zone Layout of type ZIP to edit it:
