The Cascading Route Plans feature in Dispatch Science allows you to prioritize which Route Plan should be used when an order is placed. This is done by assigning ranks to Route Plans, enabling the system to intelligently cascade through available options until a suitable Route and Zone are found.
What Are Cascading Route Plans?
When you create multiple Route Plans for a specific client and service level, each one can be given a Rank (priority level). This rank determines the order in which the system evaluates Route Plans when assigning new orders.
How It Works:
When a new order is placed:
The system first tries to match it with the highest-ranked Route Plan.
If the order doesn’t match a Zone in that plan, the system proceeds to the next ranked Route Plan.
This process continues until:
A match is found, or
All ranked Route Plans are exhausted.
If no ranked Route Plans match:
The system will check unranked Route Plans that match the client and service level.
If still no match is found, the order is assigned to the Unmapped Zone in the lowest-ranked or unranked Route Plan.
This ensures orders are not missed or left unassigned, while still following a logical routing priority.
How to Assign a Rank to a Route Plan
Navigate to Orders > Route Plans.
Open a Route Plan to edit.
In the Edit Route dialog box, select a Rank from the new Rank dropdown menu.
This Rank determines its priority relative to other Route Plans for the same account and service level.
How to View Route Plan Rankings
Go to Orders > Route Plans.
In the Route Plans table, you'll see the Rank column displaying each plan’s assigned priority.
Use this view to quickly verify and manage the ranking of multiple Route Plans across your system.
