Introduction to Route Checkpoints

A Route Checkpoint is an enhanced Checkpoint that offers all the standard features of a regular Checkpoint—including integration settings, tracking page visibility options, and barcode format configurations. In addition to these capabilities, a Route Checkpoint introduces functionality specific to Route management.

When using a Route Checkpoint, drivers are required to select a specific route before proceeding. Once the checkpoint is completed, the system automatically performs several actions:

  • Moves orders to the selected route
  • Marks the orders as picked up, if setup
  • Dispatches the route to the driver, if setup

This feature streamlines Route operations by consolidating key logistics actions into a single Checkpoint event, helping to ensure accuracy and efficiency in the field.

To access the Route Checkpoints, the following permission should be set to View to allow viewing the Route Checkpoints and to Edit for users who will create and/or edit the Route Checkpoints:

Only Checkpoints that are not already associated to Route Plans will be displayed in the drop-down field.

4) In Route Plans, select one or more Route Plan by clicking in the field. The list of Route Plans will be displayed. If instead you start typing the name of the route plan, the list will filter to the route plans matching the filter. Click on the Route Plans to add to the selection.

5) Select an option in the Route Selection Options:

Active Routes in All Associated Route Plans: If this option is selected, the Driver can select a Route from a list of all active routes from all Route Plans associated to the Checkpoint. If no Route is available, an error message will be displayed and the Driver will not be able to use the Checkpoint.

Active Routes are all the Routes that are not yet dispatched and all routes that are dispatched to the Driver within the Route selection range.

Active Dispatched and Allocated Routes in All Associated Route Plans: If this option is selected, the Driver can select a Route from a list of all active routes that are allocated or dispatched to him from all Route Plans associated to the Checkpoint. If no Route is available, an error message will be displayed and the Driver will not be able to use the Checkpoint.

Single Dispatched or Allocated Route in All Associated Route Plans: If this option is selected, the Driver can only select the Checkpoint if only one Route is allocated or dispatched to him from all Route Plans associated to the Checkpoint.  If no Route is available, an error message will be displayed and the Driver will not be able to use the Checkpoint and if more than one Route is available, an error message will also be displayed.

6) In the Route Selection Range, you will select the Start Offset and the End Offset as hours and minutes. This will allow searching for Routes that are started within the range.

Start Offset: Specify the start offset in hours and minutes. Routes will be considered only if their start time is after and within the specified offset of the Driver starting the checkpoint.

End Offset: Specify the end offset in hours and minutes. Routes will be considered only if their start time is before and within the specified offset of the Driver starting the checkpoint.

For instance, if you have routes starting at 5:00 AM, 5:30 AM, 6:00 AM, 7:00 AM, 8:00 AM and 9:00 AM.

The Start Offset is 1:00 and the End Offset is 0:30,  and the Driver starts the checkpoint at 6:30 AM.
The following Routes will be displayed: 5:30 AM, 6:00 AM, 7:00 AM.

7) Enable the Mark Orders as Picked Up option if you want the Orders that were scanned to picked up upon Checkpoint completion.

8) Enable the Dispatch Route option if you want the Orders to be dispatched to the current Driver upon Checkpoint completion.

9) Save the Route Checkpoint.

You will be returned to the Route Checkpoint list.

Edit a Route Checkpoint

1) Open Orders then click on Routes. This will open a sub-menu where you can open the Route Checkpoints:

Changes are applied on Route Checkpoints that are already started by the Driver. It may be that the Driver will not be able to complete the Route Checkpoint if the modification conflict with the items that the Driver had scanned already.

Delete a Route Checkpoint

1) Open Orders then click on Routes. This will open a sub-menu where you can open the Route Checkpoints:

2) Click on a Route Checkpoint to edit it

INSERT SCREENSHOT

3) Click on Delete button. Answer Yes to confirm deletion.

You will be returned to the Route Checkpoint list.

Deleting a Route Checkpoint will affect drivers who are currently using it and they will not be able to complete the Route Checkpoint, instead they will receive an error.
