Route Recurrences are scheduled instances within a Route Plan that define how often and when deliveries occur for specific zones. They allow Dispatch Science users to automate recurring delivery routes based on a schedule and ZIP or postal code zones.
What Are Route Recurrences?
Route Recurrences are part of a ZIP-Based Route Plan and are used to:
Set the frequency and timing of deliveries.
Define zones (based on ZIP/Postal Codes) served during each recurrence.
Assign a default driver to each zone and optionally override the driver if needed.
Key Components
Route Plan: Defines the structure of the delivery route (e.g., ZIP-based zones).
Schedule: Defines when the route is active (e.g., Monday–Friday).
Route Recurrence: The individual scheduled instance within a schedule that specifies:
The zone being served.
The driver assigned.
The time window for delivery.
Viewing and Editing Route Recurrences
Go to Orders > Route Plans.
Open a ZIP-Based Route Plan to edit.
Scroll to the Schedules section.
Expand a Schedule to view its associated Route Recurrences.
You can:
Add new Route Recurrences.
Edit zones or driver assignments.
Override drivers per zone and schedule, if needed.
Note: Only ZIP-Based Route Plans support Route Recurrences.
Override a Driver
If a specific driver should cover a zone for a particular schedule:
Click on the Override Driver cell for the relevant Route Recurrence.
Start typing the driver's name or number.
Select the desired driver from the list.
Click outside the field to save.
If the same zone appears multiple times in the schedule, the system will prompt you to confirm whether all matching entries should also be updated with the new driver.
