What is Data Anonymization?
Data anonymization is a process that allows administrators to remove (or redact/obfuscate) all pick-up and delivery information from orders that are older than a specified number of days. This feature supports compliance with privacy protection regulations that may apply to certain types of deliveries.
Where can I find the Data Anonymization option?
You can access this feature by navigating to:
Settings >System > Anonymize
This new menu item is available to administrators only.
How do I anonymize order data?
Follow these steps to anonymize data for a specific account:
1. Select the Account
In Settings > Anonymize, begin typing the account name in the "FOR ACCOUNT" input box and select the correct account from the list.
2. Specify the Order Age
Enter the number of days in the "FOR ORDER'S CREATED AT LEAST" field. This defines how old the orders need to be in order to qualify for anonymization.
3. Start the Anonymization Process
Click the "Anonymize" checkbox. A warning message will pop up, informing you that this action is irreversible and that data will be permanently removed.
4. Confirm the Action
Carefully follow the on-screen instructions and click OK to proceed.
What information will be removed?
Once the anonymization is complete:
Pick-up and delivery addresses will be removed from the order list.
All pick-up and delivery details will be deleted from the individual order pages.
What does the results table show?
After anonymization is triggered, a summary table will appear, showing:
The date the anonymization started
The account name
The number of days used as the threshold
The status of the anonymization process
The administrator's name who initiated the process
The number of orders anonymized
Is anonymization automatic?
No, anonymization is a manual process. An administrator must periodically return to the Data section in Settings and repeat the steps to update and anonymize additional orders as needed.
Can I recover anonymized data?
No. Once data is anonymized, it cannot be recovered. Please ensure that you’ve reviewed and confirmed your inputs before proceeding with the anonymization process.
